Clipper system to bring snow to southern Ontario Thursday: Five things to know
Digital Reporter
Tuesday, January 27, 2015, 6:52 PM - Snow is set to hit southern Ontario this Thursday courtesy of a weak clipper system. Here are five things you need to know.
1. TIMING
"Light snow will begin mid-morning Thursday, persisting through the day and into the overnight hours," says Weather Network meteorologist Tyler Hamilton.
Motorists are being advised to leave extra time as the storm could make for slippery roadways.
Lingering flurries are possible Friday for the Niagara region.

2. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION
- Windsor: 3-7 cm
- Hamilton: 4-8 cm
- Toronto: 4-7 cm
- Ottawa: 8-12 cm
3. WIND
"We aren't expecting any major issues with the wind Thursday, but we could see gusty winds after the clipper passes Friday," Hamilton says. "That said, the snow that does fall is expected to be powdery and light, meaning blowing snow could be an issue for lakeside communities."
4. TEMPERATURES
Frigid temperatures will move in behind the clipper system, causing a dip Friday. By Saturday, temperatures are expected to fall 15-18C, making it feel like -30 with the windchill.
5. FORECAST CONFIDENCE
"There's high confidence that a weak clipper will slide through the Great Lakes region beginning Thursday morning with effects lingering into Friday," Hamilton says.
