About a dozen youngsters were banged up when a severe thunderstorm ripped through a summer camp in northeast Edmonton on Tuesday.
Reports indicate the injuries consisted mostly of bruises and scrapes, and that some of the children were badly frightened.
About 200 children were attending the camp at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Ranch on the city outskirts.
The children were staying in teepees set up at the ranch when the storm hit.
According to its website, the ranch is a recreational facility designed to provide free outdoor experiences for children who are physically, mentally, financially or emotionally challenged.
Throughout the city, power lines and trees were knocked down by high winds.
