Sunday, August 2, 2015, 6:56 AM - Thunderstorm risk is high in some provinces Sunday, although temperatures are rosy even in Newfoundland.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Risk of isolated thunderstorms and rain showers developing in the afternoon/evening hours for New Brunswick. Most people, however, will see a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures in the mid-20s.
  • Newfoundland: Mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures in the 20s at last for the Avalon. Scattered storm risk for western and central Newfoundland, warm temperatures continue for the next few days.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Storm chance in the afternoon and evening, potentially reaching severe levels, with the biggest threats being strong, damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy downpours, with a slight tornado threat. Storms reach the GTA into the late evening/early overnight hours.
  • Quebec: Risk of storms in the afternoon north of the St. Lawrence, with a mix of sun and cloud, temps in the mid-20s. Cold front in the overnight hours will being chance of storms to the south.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: At or above seasonal temperatures for the western Prairies, slightly below for the east. Mainly sunny skies, with scattered showers for northeastern and central Manitoba, along with some storm risk through the Alberta foothills and the north.
  • British Columbia: Hot again Sunday, with sunny conditions to the south coast and interior. Daytime highs once again reach into the high 20s on the coast, low-to-mid 30s in the interior. Some storm risk for the far northern interior.
