Social media erupted on Tuesday night as the sky lit up with bright shades of pink, purple, orange and red. Some calling it the perfect "cotton candy sky," while others captioning their photos with the "sky on fire."
WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
"We had a pretty thick, but broken up cloud deck moving across southern Ontario Tuesday night and so when the light was shining from the western horizon, the reds and oranges reflected off the cloud deck," explains Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern.
And for those that may have missed this breathtaking sunset on Tuesday, Wednesday morning's sunrise more than made up for it once again.
"Today is picking up where yesterday left off with a beautiful sunrise," tweeted The Weather Network's Dr. Doug Gillham.
Timed so perfectly well, Wednesday's sensational sunrise happens to fall on the last full day of spring. Thursday marks the official start to summer, which will hopefully bring many more special moments like this.
