The incident came on January 11th, 2015 after MacDonald blacked out behind the wheel while driving from Victoria to Duncan. At about 5:30 in the morning he drove into a pole at an approximate speed of 60 km/h.

When officials began using the jaws of life to get MacDonald out of his car, he recorded the moment and uploaded it days ago to his YouTube account.

In the video, emergency personnel talk to MacDonald about his condition.

"I can't feel my legs, that's for sure," MacDonald said. "I just want to go to sleep now."

MacDonald was taken to hospital and found to have a broken right arm, left femur, both knee caps and ankles. He underwent 14 hours surgery in Victoria over two days. He spent a month in hospital after recovering.

According to MacDonald's account of the event he was not drinking or under the influence of any drugs at the moment it occurred. He said he was 'tired' at the time but perfectly healthy.
