Another wet system set to strike just as BC dries out

Monday, December 15, 2014, 9:41 AM - Days after torrential rain swamped parts of southern British Columbia, another significant system is poised to drench the region later this week.
It's not the news most people in southern British Columbia want to hear right now. Less than a week after heavy rain and fierce winds caused major destruction across the lower mainland and Vancouver Island, a look ahead shows more active weather is headed for BC before the weekend.
The system is expected to push into the region late Thursday into Friday. The next few days will see isolated showers and foggy patches for much of the West coast ahead of the main event.
Early forecast models are calling for 15-30+ mm of rain beginning Thursday. However, these totals may change throughout the week.
Several areas are still recovering from last week's rainstorms and subsequent flooding. Dozens of communities were forced to declare states of emergency in the lower mainland and on Vancouver Island after rising waters inundated roads, damaged homes and caused widespread power outages.
