Saturday, February 13, 2016, 8:28 PM - The snow continues in Atlantic Canada as a low pressure system continues to track through Newfoundland.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for parts of the island including, Bonavista and Gander with snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm expected before tapering to scattered flurries Saturday overnight.
"Snow, heavy at times, will continue tonight ahead of a low pressure system which will pass over the Avalon Peninsula this evening," Environment Canada reports.
Strong northeasterly winds combined with fresh snowfall could lead to periods of reduced visibility, the agency warns.
The low clears out for Sunday, however, a passing trough is expected to bring some light flurries to the Maritimes and Newfoundland.
Meanwhile, extreme cold warnings are widespread in New Brunswick, with wind chills of minus 35 forecast for the province through Sunday. Fredericton's daytime high of minus 15oC will feel closer to minus 24 with the wind chill.
The next system expected in Atlantic Canada arrives Tuesday and Wednesday, though it is expected to be accompanied by milder temperatures, and rain.
