7 visuals capture the destructive force of U.S. tornado

Friday, April 10, 2015, 9:13 AM - A night of severe weather that spawned thunderstorms and tornadoes has left one person dead and dozens more injured throughout the central United States.
These compelling images encompass the force and devastation of Thursday's wicked storms.
Tornadoes ripped through parts of Iowa, Ohio and Illinois Thursday evening.
At least two tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down in northern Illinois, produced by supercell thunderstorms.
One woman died as a result of a massive tornado that tore through the unincorporated town of Fairdale, where nearly a dozen people were sent to hospital.

Fairdale has been devastated by the tornado that touched down around 7:15 p.m. local time. It carved a path of destruction through the community, where every single home sustained damage from the storm.
17 structures were completely destroyed, including some homes that were leveled down to the foundation.

South of Fairdale, incredible images of the twister formation were captured by bystanders in the town of Rochelle.
Homes were flattened and a restaurant completely destroyed. A dozen people were trapped in the basement of the restaurant but were rescued before it was demolished.
Though no one was reported missing, on Friday officials continued to search piles of debris for any survivors.

Emergency teams were dispatched Friday morning in order to access the damages inflicted by Thursday night's violent storms.
Officials have yet to confirm the total number of tornadic touchdowns across the country on Thursday.

Severe storms also packed a punch through the central and midwestern states, with severe thunder and lightning, heavy rain and damaging winds.
Hail rained down in many areas, some as big as tennis balls and baseballs.
