Earth Hour? Just what the astronomer ordered

Light pollution is one of the greatest challenges of astrophysical research, but when Earth Hour is in full swing, light pollution is reduced.

The astronomers at the University of Calgary's Rothney Astrophysical Observatory will be taking it as a chance to educate visitors on the overuse of lights.

They'd be showing the documentary 'The City Dark', along with setting up some telescopes to give people a real look at the clear sky.
