San Juan is located on the northeast coast of Puerto Rico, and is bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital city of Puerto Rico.
With hundreds of miles of beautiful coastline, boasting turquoise waters and sandy beaches, tourists say there seems to be a different beach for everyday of the year in Puerto Rico.
Coming in every size, form and colour, including the pure white dunes of Isabela to the black volcanic sands near Punta Santiago in Maunabo, it's no surprise that millions call Puerto Rico's beaches some of the best in the world.
Visitors to San Juan will discover there's no need to drive away from the city to enjoy a perfectly tropical day at the beach. That's because San Juan boasts its own beauty -- Isla Verde beach -- which stretches for miles in front of luxury resorts, restaurants and private homes. It's like having a beautiful beach right in your own backyard.
In addition to beautiful, sandy beaches, there's also no shortage of heat in San Juan. Annual daytime highs range from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius, while nighttime lows range from 21 to 25 degrees.
San Juan also boasts more than 200 hours of bright sunshine per month. May and July are typically the brightest months, recording 282 and 281 hours of sunshine respectively -- a sunseekers paradise.
Expect to see some rain in San Juan between May and December, but it will be just what you'll need after a long day in the sun.
Tourists should be aware that San Juan can be affected by tropical depressions, tropical storms and hurricanes during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30.
