Holguin is located in southeast Cuba, and is bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean.
The city boasts beautiful parks, theatres and museums, and is also home to some of Cuba's finest white-sand beaches, including Guardalavaca, Playa Esmeralda and Playa Pesquero.
Holguin's captivating landscape is also part of Bariay National Park, which is ideal for ecotourists. For scuba divers and snorkellers, there's a 900-metre coral reef to explore.
There's certainly no shortage of heat in Holguin, as average daytime highs from May to September range from 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. From October to April, highs of 24 to 29 are enjoyed.
Expect to see some rain in Holguin about 10 days per month from May to October, but it's just what you'll need after a long day in the sun.
Tourists should be aware that Holguin can be affected by tropical depressions, tropical storms and hurricanes during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30.
