Havana, Cuba

HavanaHavana is located on the northwest coast of Cuba, and is bordered by the Straits of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. It is the capital city of Cuba and believed by many to be the cultural heart and soul of the island.

Havana boasts numerous museums, theatres, concert halls, art galleries and cultural institutions, which not surprisingly bring millions of tourists back to the city each year.

Many streets in Havana capture a moment in time, displaying centuries old architecture and lumbering American cars from the 1950's. The city was also a favorite, and for a time home, to the legendary American novelist Ernest Hemingway.

There is certainly no shortage of heat in Havana. Annual daytime highs in the city range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, while nighttime lows range from 16 to 23 degrees. Some rain falls about 10 days per month from May to October, but it's just what you'll need to cool yourself down.

Tourists should be aware that Havana can be affected by tropical depressions, tropical storms and hurricanes during the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30.
