Vertical navigation bars are a common navigation style that theweathernetwork.com has used for many years. As our website grew the list of links in the vertical navigation bar continued to grow until it became quite long. Feedback we got from our users suggested that the list was becoming too long and it was often difficult to find the links people wanted.
We decided to move to a horizontal navigation bar with dropdown menus in order to make links easier to find and to open up more space on the page.
As before, our website is divided into 6 sections: Weather, Travel, Roads, Home & Garden, Activities and Health & Environment. These sections make up the new horizontal navigation bar with dropdown menus listing the pages within each section.
All the links from the vertical navigation bar have been incorporated into the new navigation.
We are always trying to make our website better for you! On a regular basis, we ask users what they think is working and not working on our website.
