Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drivecars through flooded areas.Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise evenhigher than predicted. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers inIllinois...Missouri...Mississippi River at Winfield.Mississippi River at Grafton.Mississippi River at Saverton.Mississippi River at Hannibal.Mississippi River at Louisiana.Mississippi River at Clarksville.Mississippi River at Chester.River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecastprecipitation for the next 24 hours.* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.* WHERE...Mississippi River at Winfield.* WHEN...Until Wednesday, May 22.* IMPACTS...At 27.5 feet, At this stage, Lock and Dam 25 willstockpile 200 tons of sand, 12,000 sandbags, and 10,000 squarefeet of polyethylene plastic as a precaution.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 6:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 26.4 feet.- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hoursending at 6:30 AM CDT Wednesday was 26.4 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.2feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stageearly Tuesday morning.- Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
