Work Environment

Our Oakville location is a custom-built, 60,000 sq-ft, two-storey facility. LCD TVs broadcast The Weather Network and MétéoMédia throughout the building. The studio area is equipped with digital technology. Master control rooms have been ergonomically designed to accommodate our 24/7 operation. Our Forecast Centre is a showcase of our meteorology operations. In addition, there are two multi-faith rooms, a sick room, training facility, five coffee stations and cafeteria which has floor to ceiling windows and a stone wall. Building is accessible with automatic doors and an elevator to the second floor. We have a business casual dress environment and casual Fridays, where jeans can be worn.

Professional Development

Permanent full-time and part-time employees are entitled to an annual performance review. Performance evaluations at Pelmorex are intended to be a constructive and positive experience. Managers complete the annual performance evaluation, which outlines key results achieved, strengths, areas for development and focus for the next year.


Employee Relations

Throughout the year, our Human Resources Managers conduct on-going retention meetings with all employees. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues such as job satisfaction, working conditions and career goals. These meetings are conducted on a one-on-one basis and have proven to be very beneficial to identifying any employee concerns. Any concerns or issues raised are followed-up and addressed.


Promotion from Within

Pelmorex is committed to providing an equitable system for promotion and transfer opportunities. We believe in "promotion from within without compromise". Job postings are posted internally to inform our current employees of new opportunities with Pelmorex.


Corporate functions

Pelmorex hosts a holiday party every year for employees and their guest. A separate holiday party for children of employees also takes place annually. We have an active social committee who get input from employees and plan company events. In the summertime we have our annual "Fun Day" where we take all employees to a resort or amusement park for the day to participate in various activities. Service awards are presented to employees. Throughout the year we have monthly birthday celebrations.
