Scholarships

Below are annual scholarships provided by Pelmorex/The Weather Network. Each scholarship is awarded once a year.

CMOS TWN/MM Scholarship
Coordinated through the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS), this award is open to female students enrolled in an Atmospheric Science program at a Canadian University. The scholarship is designed to encourage and support Canadians toward establishing or furthering a career in the field of Meteorology. As Canada’s largest private sector employer of Meteorologists, Pelmorex is committed to the personal growth of Canada’s future Meteorologists.

Ryerson University Access Centre Scholarship
This award supports cultural diversity and is open to members of visible minorities, Aboriginal students and students with a disability. The student will be officially registered in the third or fourth year of the Journalism degree program or the Radio and Television Arts degree program at Ryerson University.

Aboriginal Scholarship Opportunity
The Weather Network educational incentive award is to create interest among Aboriginal peoples in the Canadian Broadcasting industry. One scholarship of $500 is awarded each year.

We welcome applications from status or non-status Aboriginal full-time students. Applicants should be enrolled in a Broadcasting or Journalism Program at a Canadian College or University and have received passing marks in their previous year of study. Applicants are committed students who want to contribute and have enthusiasm for their chosen career path.

If no students apply from these programs then the award may go to an Aboriginal student in another school program specifically, Communication, Business Administration, Meteorology, Computer Science, Graphic Design or Engineering Technology. Students interested in applying for this scholarship are asked to submit school transcripts from the most recent year of study, a letter of reference and resume. The deadline for applications is May 31 of each year.
