Status: Full-time, Term (up to 9 months)
Location: Oakville, ON
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of human resources for specific departments
- Act as an internal consultant to managers and employees on all human resources matters and issues
- Work with managers to assist them on HR issues and advise them as required regarding policy, process and legal considerations
- Ensure compliance with federal workplace legislation - Canada Labour Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, Pay Equity and Employment Equity Act
- Responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety (monthly committee meetings, inspections, training for committee etc.)
- Ensure the Company is in full compliance with Health & Safety
- Participate in development of company wide policies, procedures and programs
- Administer new and established HR policies and procedures
- Ensure due diligence with regard to hiring, performance management and discipline of employees and ensure employment practices are executed fairly to all employees
- Involved in all aspects of the recruitment process (job postings, interviews, coordinate advertising & reference checking)
- Review and approve all performance evaluations to ensure consistency in ratings and content
- Monitor the performance evaluation process to ensure timely reviews
- Review compensation for your area as compared to the market and related positions and make recommendations as necessary
- Coach managers on the areas of performance management, motivation and development
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures
- Counsel employees on work related issues and career plan
- Conduct one-on-one retention meetings with employees and follow-up on any issues
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback to managers
- Work with managers to prepare and follow-up on annual training plans for their department
- Promote company values and beliefs. Work with managers to create or maintain good morale, positive working environment that encourages teamwork and quality of work. Maintain positive employee relations.
- Participate in outreach initiatives and measures to attain a representative workforce

Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in related or equivalent years of working experience
- Working toward Human Resource Professional designation preferred
- 3 – 5 years related experience in human resources required preferably in a federally regulated workplace
- Experience in the area of health & safety in the workplace
- Computer skills preferably Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of federal legislation and relevant labour laws
