August Long Weekend: Saint John, NB
The August long weekend goes by many names. Commonly known as the Civic Holiday, it is only officially known by that term in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. It's British Columbia Day, New Brunswick Day, and Saskatchewan Day in those provinces. In Alberta, Heritage Day is an "optional" civil holiday. It is celebrated as Natal Day in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, but is not an official holiday in either locale. In Ontario, it's a municipal holiday known by various names including Simcoe Day in Toronto and Colonel By Day in Ottawa. The holiday is not generally observed in Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, or the Yukon.
