A low pressure system will bring significant snowfall and freezing rain to the island tonight. The precipitation will begin as a mix of snow and rain this morning and change over to snow and freezing rain this evening. A prolonged period of freezing rain is possible with the potential for significant icing. Strong northeasterly winds will develop tonight which will cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Precipitation will taper to flurries Sunday morning as the low pressure system moves away from the region.
