A low pressure system over Northern Quebec, in combination with a ridge of high pressure to the west, is producing strong north to northwest winds over the Kivalliq. Winds gusting up to 70 km/h are causing blizzard conditions at Arviat, Rankin Inlet and Repulse Bay tonight. In Repulse Bay winds will diminish by morning allowing visibilities to improve. Over the Southern Kivalliq visibilities should begin to improve by morning, however blowing snow with visibilities of 1 kilometre or less is expected to persist until Friday evening.
