Light snow will become heavy at times this evening or overnight as the low approaches. The snow will spread to northern and Western Labrador by Sunday morning. Strong northerly winds with gusts to 80 km/h will develop over northern coastal regions on Sunday causing blizzard conditions. Snowfall amounts of between 20-30 cm are forecast for most regions. Lesser amounts are forecast over northern coastal sections and along the Strait of Belle Isle. On Sunday the snow will change to rain or freezing rain over southeastern sections as a strong warm southeasterly flow develops. Over Western Labrador a brisk flow combined with bitterly cold temperatures will cause extreme wind chills Sunday morning.
