Issued atA combination of snow and rain is expected, along with gusty winds.
Locations: areas from Terra Nova to St. John's and vicinity.
Time span: Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.
Total snowfall: 2 to 5 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.
Total rainfall: 10 to 20 mm.
Maximum wind gusts: northerly 60 km/h, except 80 along parts of the coast.
Remarks: A period of accumulating snow is expected on Thursday afternoon, especially over elevated terrain, before a transition to rain follows as temperatures rise early Thursday evening. Brief ice pellets may occur over some areas during the changeover.
The timing of the snow appears likely to coincide with rush hour traffic Thursday afternoon. Driving conditions may deteriorate quickly as snow begins to accumulate and only partially melts on roads and other surfaces.
