Snowfall Warning

Issued at 1:39 p.m. CST Saturday 22 November 2014
Summary

Snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected. A storm system tracking across southern Saskatchewan today is bringing a round of wintery weather across much of the northern grainbelt. Snow from this system has spread into west central areas including Saskatoon and will continue to spread eastward mainly along and north of the Yellowhead highway this afternoon. Snow may become moderate to heavy at times today with reduced visibility and deteriorating travel conditions across the warning area. Brisk east to northeast winds will also cause locally poor visibilities in blowing snow over open areas. In general about 10 cm of snow is expected over the next 12 hours with up to 15 cm in some areas before the snow moves out from west to east overnight. Note also that snow may be mixed at times with freezing rain or ice pellets over southern sections of the warning area this afternoon.

Details

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-239-0484 or send an email to storm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #SKStorm.
