Snowfall Warning

Summary

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected. A Pacific frontal system is slowly moving across southern Saskatchewan bringing heavy snowfall lasting into the weekend. Across the northern grainbelt areas, heavy snow is expected to continue through Friday before diminishing from west to east starting Friday evening. Further southeast for areas along the Trans-Canada highway, the snow will linger into early Saturday before the system finally moves off into the Dakotas. Total snowfall amounts of up to 25 cm are expected in most areas by Saturday morning. Winds of 30 km/h are accompanying this system and may produce local reductions in visibility due to drifting or blowing snow. Snowfall warnings are issued when 10 cm of snow or more is expected to fall in 12 hours or less.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
