A low pressure system will intensify south of the Great Lakes today and will reach the Maritimes Thursday. The snow associated to this system will reach the Montérégie this morning and spread toward the Gaspé Peninsula tonight. Northeasterly winds of 60 to 80 km/h, combined with the snow, will give blowing snow and strongly reduced visibilities. The storm will reach the Lower North Shore Thursday morning, meanwhile conditions will improve over Quebec and westerly regions. Adjust your travel plans accordingly and check road conditions before leaving. Meanwhile, very low temperatures are affecting regions near James Bay this morning. Because of the winds, a wind chill nearing minus 40 is expected over Waskaganish this morning.
