Great news for ski resorts, bad news for drivers. Heavy snow squalls could bring 30+ cm of snow to parts of Ontario this week.
Snow Squall WarningIssued at 10:10 AM EST Tuesday 10 December 2013
Visibilities will be strongly reduced in snowsqualls this morning.Details
A vigorous cold front sweeping across the province of Quebec this morning will be favourable for the development of snowsqualls as it passes. Behind it, a cold and unstable air mass will move into all regions. The passage of this cold air over the relatively warmer water of the St Lawrence Estuary will be favourable for the development of snowsqualls along the northern coast of the Gaspé Peninsula and over Anticosti Island. This localized snowfall is accompanied by blowing snow strongly reducing visibilities. Lastly, an Arctic air mass will move into Northwestern Quebec tonight. This frigid air combined with moderate winds will be favourable for the development of extreme wind chill values over the Waskaganish area late tonight and Wednesday morning.
