Winter Storm WarningIssued at 3:13 p.m. EST Tuesday 27 January 2015
Hazardous winter conditions are expected. An intense low pressure system currently over New England that is moving to lie over the Gulf of St Lawrence Wednesday is causing snow, strong winds and blowing snow over the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres are expected with this storm. The snow blown around by winds possibly reaching 90 km/h will reduce visibilities to zero. Conditions will gradually improve Wednesday afternoon.Details
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
