Winter Storm watch

Issued at 4:20 a.m. EST Friday 30 January 2015
Summary

A low pressure system will develop over the New England coast today and track toward the Gulf of St Lawrence Saturday. As this system approaches, the Gaspé Peninsula and the eastern part of the Lower North Shore could receive more than 15 cm of snow beginning early Saturday. The snow will be accompanied by strong winds causing blowing snow and greatly reducing visibilities. This system will affect these regions all weekend long.

Details

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Winter Storm Watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-361-0233 or send an email to tempsviolent.quebec@ec.gc.ca. You may also tweet reports of severe weather to #meteoqc.
