Issued at 3:58 a.m. EST Saturday 31 January 2015
Summary

A low pressure system south of Nova Scotia will move toward the Gulf of St Lawrence today and lie just east of Anticosti Island Sunday morning. Snow at times heavy will accompany this system today through Sunday over the Gaspé Peninsula and the Lower North Shore. Snowfall amounts will vary from 25 to 40 cm. Stiff winds will also accompany this system, causing widespread blowing snow. The Chevery area could also receive ice pellets and freezing rain for a more or less long period.

Details

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please continue to monitor your local media or Weatheradio for further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can call 1-800-361-0233 or send an email to tempsviolent.quebec@ec.gc.ca. You may also tweet reports of severe weather to #meteoqc.
