Winter Storm WarningIssued at 10:25 p.m. EST Saturday 31 January 2015
Hazardous winter conditions are expected. A low pressure system over Nova Scotia is moving toward the Gulf of St Lawrence to lie just east of the Anticosti Island Sunday morning. Snow at times heavy in association with this system will affect the Lower North Shore through Sunday. A total amount between 15 and 35 centimetres is expected. Also, strong to high winds will accompany this system causing widespread blowing snow and wind chill values as cold as -42 in the wake of this system. A more or less extended period of ice pellets and freezing rain could also affect the Chevery area.Details
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
