Winter Storm WarningIssued at 10:55 a.m. EST Thursday 18 December 2014
A major winterstorm is expected. A weather system is slowly moving over the Maritimes today, giving significant snowfall amounts on the Gaspé Peninsula. Total snowfall amounts ranging from 25 to 40 centimetres are expected, depending on the region. The most significant snowfall amounts are expected in the Grande-Vallée and Gaspé regions. The snow will end overnight. The snow and northeasterly winds will intensify this morning, reducing visibilities in blowing snow, especially near the shoreline.Details
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
