Snow Squall Warning

Issued at 08:37 Thursday 11 February 2016
Summary

Lake effect flurries and local snow squalls will continue this morning. Radar currently shows an intense snow squall band extending from just south of Goderich to the western sections of the city of London and this snow squall will remain stationary this morning. Local snow accumulations near 30 centimetres have been reported by the public this morning. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm per 12 hours will be possible. The snow squall bands will move out of the regions early this evening as the winds become more westerly. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Road closures are possible. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
