Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 3:20 p.m. EST Friday 21 November 2014
Summary

Freezing rain will begin early Saturday morning over the Windsor to Sarnia areas. Current indications from forecast computer model guidance are that a couple of hours of freezing rain will occur and then change over to rain as the temperature rises above the freezing mark. Ground temperatures below freezing may also result in icy and slippery surfaces continuing through the morning.

Details

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/ Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet with the hashtag #ONStorm.
