Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 10:36 a.m. EST Saturday 22 November 2014
Summary

A warm front crossing southern Ontario today will open the door to a milder damp period for the region. But until the milder air arrives, some freezing rain is projected to affect many regions, especially this morning. The freezing rain has ended in the extreme southwest and is now working its way northeastwards. It appears most areas will receive a couple of hours of freezing rain this morning before a changeover to some patchy rain as temperatures nudge above the freezing mark. Ground temperatures below freezing may also result in icy and slippery surfaces continuing through the morning hours.

Details

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet with the hashtag #ONStorm.
