Wind Warning

Issued at 5:23 a.m. NDT Monday 22 September 2014
Summary

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Strong southerly winds gusting to between 100 and 120 km/h over exposed areas are expected to develop this morning in the west and spread eastward today as an intense low pressure system tracks west of Newfoundland. Behind the low, southwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h can be expected over parts of western and northern Newfoundland overnight and Tuesday morning.

Details

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy shelters. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Stay up to date with Weatheradio or your local media. Email reports of severe weather to weatherNLWO@ec.gc.ca or call 1-877-815-9900. You may tweet reports using the hashtag #NLwx.
