Rainfall Warning

Issued at

A long episode of rain, at times heavy, continues.

Locations: Central and southern New Brunswick.

Additional rainfall: 70 mm in central and western areas, up to 100 mm for the Fundy Coast. Lesser amounts of 50 over eastern New Brunswick.

Time span: continuing until Friday night or Saturday morning.

Similar storms in the past have caused:
- road shoulder erosion and washouts
- hazardous driving conditions
- scattered utility outages

Remarks: Rainfall rates of 10 to 15 mm per hour may occur over some locations. Rain will change to snow Friday night or Saturday morning.
Significant runoff is expected to occur as the rain combines with mild temperatures, leading to considerable snowmelt.

###

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
