Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Issued at 17:14 Thursday 28 May 2015
Summary

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. A cold front is currently located over northern New Brunswick. Ahead of the front humid air prevails and as the front crosses the province it may trigger severe thunderstorms. Damaging winds and heavy downpours are the main threat. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn't a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NBStorm.
