An intense Pacific frontal system draped across the Central Coast will move southeastward towards the South Coast today. As the system slides southeast, heavy rainfall amounts exceeding 100 mm can be expected across West Vancouver Island and the port alice area of Northern Vancouver Island. South Coast regions including Howe Sound, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley will see between 50 to 70 mm of rain by the time the rain eases early Sunday morning. The winter storm warning is now ended for the inland sections of the North Coast however rain and some wet snow continue at this time and some patches of freezing rain could still linger in areas northeast of Terrace for the next few hours.
