An intense Pacific frontal system draped across the Central Coast will continue to move southeastward towards the South Coast today. Freezing rain is occurring in the Terrace area at present but should transition to rain by early this afternoon. The heavy precipitation is over and precipitation rates will be fairly light. The heavy snowfall is mostly over however snow continues over the far north near Stewart and a further 5 cm can be expected. As this large system slides southeast it will bring rainfall amounts reaching 100 to 120 mm to West Vancouver Island and the port alice area. South Coast regions including Howe Sound, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley will see between 50 to 70 mm of rain by the time the rain eases early Sunday morning.
