A bitterly cold airmass associated with an Arctic high pressure ridge remains over Southern Saskatchewan. Temperatures are in the minus thirties early this morning, which combined with west winds of 15 to 20 km/h are giving extreme wind chills in the minus forties. These extreme wind chills will moderate only slightly throughout the day, then shift southeastward a bit tonight. A weak weather system will bring air that is not quite as cold to western and northern portions of the Grainbelt tonight. With wind chills in the minus forties, frostbite can occur in as little as 5 to 10 minutes.
