Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Issued at 04:32 Saturday 30 May 2015

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. A sharp cold front will sweep across Southwestern and Central Quebec today. The airmass ahead of this front will be warm and humid. This will favour the development of thunderstorms at times severe as the front passes starting this afternoon over the westernmost areas and early this evening further east. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to or tweet reports to #meteoqc.
