Blowing Snow Advisory

Issued at 21:57 Monday 08 February 2016
Summary

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations. A low crossing eastern Newfoundland will bring snow and blowing snow Tuesday and Tuesday night. Snow, giving 5 to 10 cm, and strong northeasterly winds gusting between 70 and 90 km/h will combine to reduce visibility in blowing snow beginning Tuesday morning. Blustery conditions are expected to persist into Tuesday night. A second low pressure system will cross eastern Newfoundland overnight Tuesday into Wednesday bringing another 5 to 10 cm and continuing blowing snow. Conditions will improve later in the day on Wednesday. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to weatherNLWO@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #NLwx.
