A bitterly cold airmass associated with an Arctic high pressure ridge continues to build into Southern Manitoba. In the southwest temperatures are near minus 30 early this morning, which combined with west winds of 15 to 20 km/h are giving extreme wind chills in the minus forties. These extreme wind chills will moderate only slightly throughout the day, then redevelop tonight and also shift eastward into the Red River Valley. With wind chills in the minus forties, frostbite can occur in as little as 5 to 10 minutes.
