Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 22:49 Saturday 28 March 2015
Summary

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. Periods of freezing rain or snow will change to snow Sunday morning. The Southern Shore has the greatest likelihood of seeing a prolonged period of freezing rain tonight. Meanwhile, the metro area and Conception Bay will most likely see precipitation oscillate between freezing rain and snow. Locations further north and west are forecast to see precipitation fall mainly as snow, giving total snowfall accumulations of up to 15 centimetres. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Utility outages may occur. Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Stay up to date with Weatheradio or your local media. Email reports of severe weather to weatherNLWO@ec.gc.ca or call 1-877-815-9900. You may tweet reports using the hashtag #NLwx.
