Fun Facts

  • The Weather Network and MétéoMédia were the first Canadian services to deliver an hourly forecast, 7 day outlook, 14-day trend and seasonal forecasts on television and online.

  • Several times a day meteorologists at The Weather Network and MétéoMédia update the forecast information on a 10km square grid for all of Canada producing 180,000 individual forecasts across the country.

  • Nearly 190,000 feet of cable was used in The Weather Network’s state-of-the art media facility.

  • On-camera presenters broadcast from virtual studios using chroma-key technology. The presenter is in a green room and the camera takes a picture of everything that is green and replaces it with the map viewers see at home.

  • The first Local Forecasts did not have icons describing sky conditions. They were all text.
